This week is National Apprenticeship Week!

We are proud to be an employer that offers career growth and support via free apprenticeships ranging from Level 2 to Level 7.

Take a look below at some of our successful candidates:

Kathryn Allen – HR Administrator

What apprenticeship did you complete? – HR Support with CIPD Level 3.

When did you join AAG? – 3rd October 2022.

How has your apprenticeship enhanced your development? – It helped me to utilise skills that had long been forgotten (e.g., referencing and research into specific topics), as well as further enhance my time management skills. It also boosted my confidence in my existing skills and knowledge by showing that I had many transferable skills from my Teacher Training and my years in Customer Services. For example, the adaptations we learned about in the Special Educational Needs [SEN] module can be applied to reasonable adjustments in the event of an employee with a disability, or service delivery and follow through for my ‘customers’ except, not the customers are internal colleagues vs. external retail customers.

What skills have you learnt as part of the qualification? – I’ve learned lots of skills such as policy writing, some basic data analysis, how to better support managers and colleagues in developing their own skills and knowledge and how to foster employee engagement. We also learned about soft skills such as active listening, body language etc.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to colleagues and why? – Yes! It is a good way to learn on-the-job, giving you the opportunity to put the skills and knowledge you are learning into practice at an every-day level whilst working in your field of interest.

Kamila Jedynak – Supervisor FPS Sheffield

What apprenticeship are you working towards? – Supply Chain Warehouse Operative.

When did you join AAG? – I joined FPS 6 years ago before it became part of AAG.

How has your apprenticeship enhanced your development so far? – It categorises my knowledge and is helping me to build my fundamental base of knowledge.

What skills have you learnt as part of the qualification? – So far I have learnt Health and Safety legislations. I am looking forward to learning more as I progress through the course.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to colleagues and why? –  Yes! Apprenticeships help to expand skills.

As someone from another country, the apprenticeship has helped me to understand the process and build my knowledge.

David Pinto – Parts Advisor, Motorserv MK

What apprenticeship are you working towards? – I am currently working towards a Customer Service qualification in my apprenticeship.

When did you join AAG? – I joined AAG in November 2022.

How has your apprenticeship enhanced your development so far? – It has given me a lot of confidence speaking over the phone with customers and it has taught me to widen my attention span as well as work well with my colleagues.

What skills have you learnt as part of the qualification? – I have learnt how to navigate with two monitors in front of me at all times and I have improved my communication skills too.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to colleagues and why? – Yes! It is a good way to learn a skill and gain the knowledge to be fully qualified in the position.
